Founded in 1896, Rhode island Watercolor Society (RIWS) is one of the oldest watercolor organizations in America. With over 300 members, RIWS provides artists and the general public the opportunity to view, purchase, exhibit and learn about watermedia art. RIWS offers classes, workshops and demonstrations by nationally and regionally acclaimed artists. RIWS also organizes educational trips to art exhibitions. Located in a historic lakeside “boathouse” in Slater Memorial Park, RIWS features an art gallery, library and studio space. The gallery hosts 15 shows per year, including a National Watermedia Competition. www.riws.org
