Holidays

Well, the holidays have slowed work down a bit. I'm working on some larger paintings and they take longer to plan. Graphic Design is still very important and will take precedence for now.

Girl Scout Camp, Bradford, NH

The camp is closed for the winter, but we were able to rent the lodge for a weekend to go skiing. Wood was also supplied for the fireplace. Very inexpensive and the squirrels in the walls were free

Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West

I painted this during the Summer in Massachusetts. Although I wasn't in Arizona, I could still feel the heat from when I was there. I would like to be warming my toes there right now.

"Lovells Island 1" Boston Harbor

Collapsed WWI Communications Bunker, Lovells Island, Boston Harbor, MA. The Boston Harbor Islands are truly a special place. On the East side you see the ocean, West, the Boston skyline is off in the distance. My daughter and I walk the shore lines looking for sea glass...so close—yet so far away.

"Charles River 1" Medfield, MA

This is a spot on the Charles River where I would take our dog for a run. When we would get to the water, he would jump in and bark, real loud, with joy—even in winter. Sometimes the water would be high and flowing fast. Click on image for a larger view.

Paper

Watercolor paper is an important part of painting. If you try to paint on any old thing, you will get very frustrated. I believe this is one reason why people who try watercolor don't continue. You need a good quality paper that stands up to all sorts of painting techniques. I personally like Arches...it can take a lot of abuse and still perform.
